We fight for the release of children from prison and we place them under our guardianship, thus ensuring their safety, food, medical care and education

Supporting children in prisons

Sophia is committed to securing the release of children from prisons and remand centers. We focus on supporting abused girls, often victims of rape, and children compelled to steal for survival on the harsh streets of Kenya. Once they are released into our guardianship and care, we admit them to the Makarios Children’s Home if they are of primary school age, or place them in secondary boarding schools if they are older. This ensures their safety and provides the support needed for their smooth reintegration into society.

For children who must remain in custody until their trial and sentencing, we supply books, sports balls, and educational materials to support their continued learning and well-being.
