On Friday October 17, the company HOUSE OF BEAUTY with KIEHL’S in a solemn ceremony at the Mall of Cyprus, handed over a check of 1000 euro for the needs of our programme “I Cook and I Offer”.
KIEL’S has the principle, rather than to spend money for advertising campaigns to offer it to charities. We, at the Sophia Foundation for Children thank Kiehl’s from our heart and hope to stay by our side.
‘I ADOPT A CHILD’ PROGRAMME
We provide breakfast, lunch and medical care to over 3,000 children across Kenya. The minimum monthly donation for ‘adopting a child’ is 20 euro.
MEDICAL MISSONS
We organise and effect a series of medical and dental missions, as well as implementing vaccination programmes ,thus covering all basic requirements for the prevention and/or management of diseases.
‘MAKARIOS CHILDREN’S HOME’ in Nyeri, Central Kenya
We built new and renovated some of the old premises of the orphanage which houses over 150 children many of which are HIV-positive or AIDS patients and we are responsible for its daily running and maintenance. We ensure the provision of food, clothing, medical care, education and recreation to all of the children.
PROVISION OF CLEAN WATER
We construct water-wells for pumping water and provide and install water tanks for storing fresh water.
SUPPORTING CHILDREN KEPT IN PRISONS
We fight for the release of children from prison, and we place them in our custody, thus ensuring their safety, food, medical care and education.
SUPPORTING WOMEN AND YOUTH CENTRES IN THE SLUMS
We promote and buy handicrafts which we then sell though our ‘mikromagazo’(little bazar’).
I COOK AND I OFFER
We provide lunch to all children in all-day primary schools in Cyprus.
JUST CARE
We carry out presentations in schools both in Cyprus and abroad, geared to sensitise children in regard to current social matters and the idea of volunteering.
